I have had it with you people.
I am dead serious.

I am an illustration major in an art college, and you know what I have noticed?

PEOPLE COPY OTHER PEOPLES STYLES!

OH MY GOD IT IS TRUE!
...

it is totally normal.

It is not the end of the fucking god damn world.

Art as a profession is very rough and competitive. Always trying to one up the other and get noticed to get more work and commissions.

For instance, Look at the Golden Age Illustrators.

Look up these artists.

N.C Wyeth
Edmund Dulac
Gertrude Kay
Kay Nielsen
Maxfield Parrish
JC. Leyen Decker

and now look at todays Illustrators.
They all have a similar art style from some Golden Age Master Artist.
and those Golden Age artists learned from one master...HOWARD PYLE!
(so they all have similarities to his style of art)
It isnt bad. If anything it is how you learn and grow!

So, people Please....GROW THE HELL UP, GET OVER IT AND KNOW IT ISNT BAD TO HAVE A SIMILAR STYLE!
I am sorry, I just have had it with all this mindless drama.  Know how art works and what the community is about before starting this crap.

I am seeing all my friends get hurt over idiotic things, mostly because of styles of similarity.  IT IS FUCKING NORMAL FOR SOMEONE TO HAVE A SIMILAR STYLE TO ANOTHER! GET OVER IT!

I am sorry for this to be such a unprofessional journal. I just...people who start this drama are making me sick and disgusted with this community.

It's because no one is able to see art the way it was back then.
I loved how during those times, a simple dot could be seen as more than a million things. But now when someone from today glances at it, they feel like they have to find everything to be hateful and ridicule it. It's like they can't see from another point of view because they're so god damn close minded. What's worse is that I'm starting to see it pop up more and more on what I thought of this website to be good but now it seems more awful. It feels like imagination is disappearing from everything and causing this world to be so corrupted and dull.
(Sorry I felt like ranting too hahaha)

styles are very hard to get. Even your own. It takes a long time and a lot of drawing, constant drawing to get your own style.
dont worry :3 you will find it eventually. I have yet to find mine as well.

I never really realized this was a problem but I do agree it's alright to have a similar style. It helps for one to find their own style but it's ok to also use another person's style. For example, I draw ponies in the style of how they look in the show but I also have developed my own style recently and it never hurt me and no one has ever hated on me for it.

it is just that , I love that younger artists are into the art, but I feel like they dont know the full extent of art and what happens in it. Art is an expression, but it is also exposing yourself to others. Art in general is harsh, If you dont want to have rough comments about how you should fix this or that, or how to maybe make it better, dont post art on a site for everyone to see!

sorry all of this i believe is a lack of total understanding.

I have to agree, truth is as far as our culture has get certain "currents" in almost all aspects of our living, from philosophy to economy, from music to maths and yes drawing and plastic arts have some of that around too. Its kind of natural for this to happen when we all grow flowing, admiring and catching up to certain figures one way or another we get influenced by them. BUT also dear LLLuna dont let people with different opinions make your frown, just point at them and laugh maniacaly after all they are wrong and its your DEVINE RIGHT to stomp on them because you are right. That last part was a joke

It isnt the opinions that make me pissed, it is the lack of knowledge these people have in the art community that start these stupid scenarios. If you dont understand the artist community and get easily offended, get the fuck off DA and go on a child's amusement park ride.

Because obviously DA is not for you and not in your path of understanding. :T

You are going to find lack of knowledge and understanding from people every where you go, the webs are just a place were all this missed opinions overwhelmed those that are right, I think we all have been on both sides of the coin. I would encourage you to let things wash away and don't let silly people to make you sad, angry or annoy you. After all if an opinion or word makes has some effect on you those writing or saying them have achieved something.
